Applying to get into a university can be a daunting process, but I’m really grateful to have had Carol and her team supporting me throughout the application process.
The two-year GEMS physiotherapy program is a fast paced and intense experience, but the knowledge you gain along the way is absolutely invaluable. You have the opportunity to learn from professors doing current research in physiotherapy, so you get to learn the most up to date evidence-based practice. The program includes a lot of hands-on practice, with feedback from your instructors and practicing physiotherapists working as teaching aids. You even have the opportunity to gain more individualised one-on-one feedback during simulation labs just to prepare you for clinical placements. Although I went through the program when COVID-19 sent us into lockdown, all staff and teachers put together online material and hosted additional practical classes to ensure we made up for it. The whole two-year program is challenging but well worth the sense of fulfillment in the end. Overall, UQ has a gorgeous campus, friendly culture, and highly supportive staff and instructors to set you up for success, so if you choose to go to UQ, make the most of it!
